Today was a very busy day in our classroom. We moved desks to help us talk less and get into our third grade schedule. Mrs. Collins had to spend a lot of time working with the class on talking and noise levels. We have not had to have anyone "take 5!" yet, but tomorrow Mrs. Collins warned the class that she will not be so lenient! We learned how to write an introduction to our personal narrative in writing. In math we are pros at getting out our bell work and completing it quickly. We each took our time test and are excited to see how we did. We read the story The Lizard Lounge for reading and made a circle map about the main character and learned how to create a vocabulary thinking map. We are also practicing being able to give directions using the cardinal directions!

Today we named our class bear Blueberry in our morning meeting. We also saw some neat rocks, artwork and a poster in our afternoon meeting. We are still learning the rules and procedures in our classroom. Today we created a flee map in writing. We also learned how to write the letter a in cursive and we learned how to make a compass rose. Today was an awesome first day of school! We did not have any major behavior problems. We are trying to choose a name for our class community bear...we will vote tomorrow. We learned how to complete our daily math bell work.  Today in math we graphed our birthdays. In writing we created a circle map about ourselves to share with the class. Today we also learned how to write in our new agendas...we are very excited to be grown up in third grade!
